Athletes, referees and spectators on site and watching TV: Even the lighting has to provide maximum performance to set athletic excellence into the right light! In Europe, lighting requirements for a variety of indoor and outdoor sports are standardised (EN 12193). In addition to the photometric requirements for lighting in sports and event areas, lighting installations must also meet specific mechanical and environmental requirements: Ballproof, weatherproof as well as moisture resistant and vibration-proof.
Due to space constraints, for example large and high halls or mast lighting, the lighting system must be durable and maintenance-free, to keep maintenance costs as low as possible. Furthermore, since not only the competition arena must be illuminated, but also all surrounding indoor and outdoor areas (entryways, team rooms, service areas or car parks) cost-efficiency operations is also a must.
